Mai Chau

Spend one or two nights in the Vietnamese countryside, enjoy delicious home-cooked meals and learn about different cultures. Mai Chau is about 3 hours by bus from Hanoi, and it is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a place to go for a peaceful view of the countryside and rice paddy. Sceneries and landscapes are truly amazing and a great opportunity to take pictures. A visit to Mai Chau is a little about seeing any of the great sights, and it is about exploring the countryside slowly crossing the local villages and rice fields. This is where you can rent a bike and enjoy a day trip to explore the beautiful scenery and stumble into amazing photo booths. If you happen to visit Mai Chau in October, it will be a really exciting time because it is harvest time, and you will be able to see the colorful rice fields. Mai Chau is also home to the Ban Lac people, who are the ancestors of Thai tribes, and is very close to Hanoi, encouraging people to visit the famous village of Lac to explore the local culture and traditions.

You cannot come to Mai Chau without looking at other caves. Chieu Cave is probably the most famous. To ascend the cave, you have to climb about 1000 stairs, which are extremely steep and tiring so you have to be physically fit to reach the top of the cave. However, it is definitely worth it for the amazing view of the city. Mai Chau is still Vietnam’s hidden gemstone. A simple easy escape from the madness of Hanoi and some of the best of Sapa. Especially if you do not have a lot of time during your trip.
